Room 439, Hilton Garden Inn, Grapevine nr DFW Airport. 6:58pm 11/5/10

12 hour flight. Originally we were going to be on the ground on a taxiway for 2.5 hours waiting to take off. But we got an earlier slot at around 11.40. Would not have liked to be "down the back" all that time.

Great food and service. Why do AA get such bad reviews? Better than BA "Clubworld" which people seem to swoon over.

Routed over Lake District, Orkney, Faroes, Iceland, Greenland, and down over Canada and into USA on the other side of the lake from Chicago. But saw virtually nothing due to cloud almost everywhere.

Must have arrived behind flights from Bombay and Karachi so had long wait at Immigration as well as Customs. Free courtesy bus out to the hotel which is all-but brand new.

CBS News reports local Tornadoes with several killed in nearby Oklahoma. You forget what a dangerous country this can be!

Those enormous beds (with softness controls - dial on side of bed - and choice of soft or not-so-soft pillows would you believe?) are looking more and more tempting and the characters on this screen are swimming before my eyes.

Just to say a huge thanks for the great comments. Keep it up. I have not found a way of reading all the comments together so you have to go to the bottom of These pages to read them:-

Scroll down towards the bottom. I am sure there must be a way of summarising all the comments. Let me know if you find one!

Did I tell you, once saw Richard Wattis in a pub in Battersea. He was just like he was in the films. Wonderful!

Night... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

"...........choice of soft or not-so-soft" Sounds much like the option I get offered every night, these days!

Nice to see it is warmer there than here, keep the blogs coming even though the characters are swimming before your eyes.

Very good for you. I finally given in and put on my long johns. In the middle of May! Don in Costa del Slop.

<<Thanks Don. But you always look so fetching in those LongJohns. Not needed here.

More Blog later.

We have just learned there were major floods in Nashville at the beginning of the month. We are currently trying to find out more. We may have to modify our itinerary.>
