Room 14223, Rush Tower, Golden Nugget, Las Vegas NV. 8pm. 23/5/10

No Blog tonight. Just a little note to say "safely arrived in Las Vegas". And it's raining and it's 63 degrees. Luckily got to the good ole Golden Nugget in the dry. How many times have we been here? And we still get lost getting away from the airport.

KC Downtown Skyline

Great drive through the rolling, wooded Ozarks (Aux Arcs, we learned). Past Alma Arkansas, "Spinach capital of the world". Arthur wanted to stop... not!

Country Club Plaza. Posh shops and restaurants. Very unexpected

Local Wildlife - "Braves"

For a city of half million, Kansas City seemed enormous. Interesting too.

Arthur's Limo, KC

When we checked in by machine at KCI (Kansas City Airport) which used to be main hub for the much lamented TWA, we were offered an upgrade to First Class for a total of $90. Given that we would have to have paid $50 anyway to check our bags, and that 1st Class Passengers' bags go for free, it was a good deal so we snapped it up. Unfortunately it was not available on the DFW-LAS leg. That flight was packed and we hated the smug b****, er.. people sat up front in their wide leather seats being fed drinks and food. To be fair, you do get free "sodas" on AA on all flights.

Having got lost, due to "TomTom" error, again, found new Valet Parking and VIP checkin for the new Rush Tower at the Golden Nugget. Despite a "guaranteed" Strip view room, when we got up to our room, there was no Strip view. So John marches down to VIP checkin again to change room. Get new room on 14th Floor with view in direction of the Strip. Just waiting for the lights to go on.

Love it!

The room is r.i.d.i.c.u.l.o.u.s.

Will explain more tomorrow. Now the BJ tables, the Video Poker machines, the drive up the Strip and the Steak n' Eggs at the Carson Street Cafe are calling.

On holiday for 4 days now....

I still haven't gotten over the thought of turnip greens, thank goodness you didn't stop for spinach. One of the "braves" reminds me of Davids son Nick. Have fun in L,V. who wouldn't.

24.05.10.-Got home last night after a wonderful holiday. Cats had a good time, at least Poli did, we saw very little of Sophie although Marg did say that she ate her food in front of her on one occasion. The Finca was gorgous and we appreciated the wonderful garden in full bloom. Ian was very helpful and nice to have around. If you ask us again to "catsit" remember Ken struggles in the heat so up to late May o.k and anytime after late Sept. Hope we did everything o.k. although we did break one saucer and couldn@t find a replacement. Ken had soaked the cat balls with supplement and covered bowl with saucer and put it on top of fridge but not far enough back. I opened fridge and hey presto. So sorry. Holiday sounds wonderful although we haven't had time to read all as just started to unpack. Lots of love x

You had trouble finding your way because you were thinking of winning all that money. Was that your Las Vegas transport for carrying your winnings?
The weather here for a change is much better than 63, its about 80. Still thinking how nice it would be to do what you are doing.

Hello Boys !
We are back in wet and windy UK and not happy about being back at all!! We had a wonderful time at Bag End, the weather was warm & sunny every day apart from last Friday. There was thunder all day long around the mountains and then lots of rain just in time for our BBQ at Chris & Anne's....typical! Poli was adorable the whole time we were there, but we didn't see much of Sofi, although I did see her once or twice at meal times. Sofi slept on our bed, I can't believe how much room a small cat can take up !!!!
Ian has been working really hard, and Bag End is looking amazing...I've even got a photo of the garden as my screen saver on my phone to remind me what I'm missing...the garden is in full bloom and is so beautiful. Thank you for letting us look after Bag End it was a fantastic experience, we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Lots of Love, Lisa & Ferg xx PS - No breakages to report !
